Hounds & Heritage Weddings was founded in late 2021, following a decision to split a pre-existing pet care business of 9 years with the intention of focusing primarily on Weddings.
It is currently independently owned and operated by Jemma Cox, who boasts 10 years Pet Care experience & 5 years Wedding Event Experience.
Thank you for visiting Hounds & Heritage Weddings. My name is Jemma, and I am the Founder of HHW.
I have been working in the Pet Care Industry for a little over 10 years now, having first taken the plunge into self-employment at the back end of 16 years of age.
Before I went ahead with this, I was working in the Hospitality industry, meddling between numerous roles from waitressing and bartending to events coordinating and planning for Weddings, Burns Nights, and other similar occasions.
My journey into the pet care industry, originated in my home county of North Yorkshire, before it took a new turn into Scotland, in early 2020. Originally, the services that I offered focused on the generic side of pet care, being Private/Group Walks, Day-care, Dog Sitting, and Boarding. However, as my own family grew, I made more suitable changes that meant I could continue to work in the industry I loved, alongside those most important to me.
Having considered my connection and love of the hustle and bustle of event life, I expanded my horizons into the wedding industry by offering Wedding Chaperone services aimed at the bridal party and their families/close friends. Having been a recent bride-to-be and having always had a close connection to my own families’ dogs, I knew that I couldn’t be married without them by our side.
We are proud dog owners ourselves and think of Loki & Elene, our Springer Spaniel & Welsh Cardigan Corgi, as nothing short of our fluffy son and daughter. Loki is a ball of energy, hard work at times, but at the end of the day he is our baby through and through. When it came to our wedding, unfortunately Loki was ill, so we didn’t quite get the day we had dreamed of, but we were still blessed to have him there in some small way, which was all that mattered. Elene is a new addition to our family, having being welcomed home on 29th May 2022, after a very very long day trip to and from Wales. She is settling in fantastically and has a wonderful temperament.
I consider myself exceptionally lucky to share my home life with two lovely young children, Esmé (3) and Elliott (6mo), and my husband; Steven. My children have been brought up around dogs since they were newborns and as such, have been taught to respect dogs – i.e., no pulling tails, tormenting. My husband Steven is nothing short of supportive of my job and aspirations and is the absolute perfect teammate. He’s also a complete softy when it comes to dog cuddles on the sofa and is always up for an adventure.
It has to be said, that the experience I have learnt over the last few years, has been utterly invaluable. From expanding my own business to offer more premium services, helping others to become Professional Pet Carers, bringing the public together through social public dog walks, and taking part in numerous professional development courses, I’ve been utterly grateful for every opportunity that I’ve been blessed with.
It is my main aim, alongside my family, to offer a service that truly feels like you are just dropping your dogs off to a close friend or distant family member. So, if you are looking for help for your wedding day, please do consider Hounds & Heritage Weddings. We would be delighted to welcome you and your dogs into our own family and help make your wedding day one to remember!
As a way of thanking people for the overwhelming support we have received this year, we are currently offering 10% off all services booked in the next three months.
Offer will end on 30th September 2022.
From my family to yours, thank-you so much.
